Frank Ragnow, who played seven seasons with the Detroit Lions, has announced his retirement from the National Football League (NFL) on health grounds.

Frank Ragnow, a former US professional football centre, came up with the announcement, which was posted on Instagram on June 2, 2025.

He finished a distinguished seven-year career spent entirely with the Lions with his announcement.

The 29-year-old Ragnow swiftly became a cornerstone of Detroit’s offensive line.

Although being selected for four Pro Bowls, Ragnow was named a second-team All-Pro three times.

He sustained many injuries -a fractured throat in 2020 and chronic toe issues in 2021. He retained his dominance in the 2024 season despite these challenges.

Following his retirement statement, Ragnow has expressed deep gratitude to the Lions organisation and fans.

His departure leaves an important void in Detroit’s offensive line.

Now, rookie Kingsley Eguakun, another American professional football center for the Detroit Lions, is the only listed centre on the roster, although veteran guard Graham Glasgow has experience at the same position.
