Susan Smith gained notoriety for killing her 3-year-old son Michael and 14-month-old son Alexander back in 1994.
She was convicted and handed out 15 years back to back sentences for each boy.
The South Carolinian had confessed before the court of drowning her children 30 years ago.
On Wednesday she was unanimously denied parole after she appeared before the parole board for the first time via Zoom.
On the Zoom call, an overwhelmed Susan broke down before the parole board and said that she knew what she did was horrible and would give anything to go back and change it.
At that time, David Smith, her ex-husband, also in an emotional tone asked the board to deny parole.
Prosecutor Tommy Pope also echoed the same.
The board denied parole to Susan but she is eligible for it every two years.
On October 25, 1994, a 23-year-old Susan Smith strapped her sons into their car seats and let the car roll off into a nearby lake.
Initially, she had lied to police and said a Black man carjacked her and abducted her sons.
Her husband believed her and the young couple appeared in front of a camera pleading for the suspect to bring the boys home.
On November 3, that year, police challenged Susan’s version and she admitted to the killings during interrogation.
