According to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the organization has not found any evidence during its research that anyone has been infected with bird flu or avian flu by having accurately cooked eggs, as cooking eggs can kill the virus of avian influenza at 160°F (71°C).
The bird flu issue came to the limelight recently after the US reported the first severe bird flu case in California when the state called for an emergency to respond to the outbreak.
A Louisiana resident has been admitted to hospital with bird flu. With the case, the US found the first severe human case of avian influenza, reports Gulf News.
The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention said on Wednesday that an investigation over the infection is still ongoing as the patient had been exposed to sick and dead birds in backyard flocks.
The agency said they did not find any evidence that H5N1 is spreading from person to person, and the risk to humans remains low.
According to the American Journal of Infection Control, the bird flu caused by the H5N1 virus is a new emerging infectious disease.
Since 1997, poultry infections have been reported worldwide.
The virus caused severe disease with high mortality in humans in Vietnam and Thailand and jumped the species barrier, but there is still controversy about whether it is safe to eat eggs.
