The ‘Smallville’ star dies following a short illness

English-born Canadian actor Chris Gauthier, best known for his roles in “Once Upon a Time”, Eureka, and Smallville, has died at the age of 48 following a brief illness.

Chris suddenly and unexpectedly breathed his last on February 23, his management told the media on Sunday, reports people.com.

His agency TriStar Appearances/Event Horizon Talent confirmed in a statement that Chris Gauthier, our friend and client, passed away on Friday morning after a brief illness.

Chris shared his talents with so many areas of us both on film and TV as a beloved Vancouver-based character artiste, the statement read.

His fans and those, who were lucky enough to know him personally, cannot feel his loss, it said.

“We, on behalf of his beloved family, ask for privacy during this time so that they can mourn accurately, the statement added.

Chris has several acting credits under his name in TV shows. They are Supernatural, Harper’s Island, Joe Pickett, and Once Upon a Time.

His films include Watchmen, 40 Days and 40 Nights, The Christmas Promise, Three Wise Men and a Baby, and Comes to Town.

Meanwhile, the Hallmark channel expressed deep shock and paid tribute to Gauthier in an Instagram post on Sunday, saying “We are sorry to hear about the demise of actor Chris Gauthier.”

Chris left behind his wife Erin and his two sons, Ben and Sebastian to mourn his death.
