American actress and producer Emma Stone has won the Best Actress Oscar for her role of Bella Baxter in “Poor Things.
The actress took home the top title for her collaboration with auteur Yorgos Lanthimos. Emma Stone in 2017 won previously Best Actress for Damien Chazelle’s “La La Land.
The authorities formally nominated Stone for Oscars for “Birdman” and Lanthimos’ “The Favourite.”
Lanthimos and Stone are set to work together on next films “Kinds of Kindness” and “Save the Green Planet”. Poor Things” is their third collaboration.
As part of a race on Sunday night, Emma Stone defeated Lily Gladstone of “Killers of the Flower Moon”.
Gladstone was predicted to become the first Native American to win a competitive Oscar.
When last year’s winner Michelle Yeoh announced Emma Stone’s name, she appeared shocked.
Before moving into the aisle to hug co-star Mark Ruffalo and director Yorgos Lanthimos, stone hugged and kissed her husband Dave McCary, reports the Associated Press.
During the introduction of the nominees, Emma Stone hugged each of the five previous Best Actress winners.
She was honored for her tour-de-force performance as Bella Baxter who comes to life through a brain transplant and begins a journey of self-discovery.
Against a steampunk backdrop, the film is full of black humor.
