Jurgen Klopp, for the last time as Liverpool manager, ran over to The Kop and delivered those repeated fist pumps that have been his signature during his transformational spell at Anfield.

The teary-eyed Liverpool fans — just like some of the players — responded with a series of deafening roars, and then cheered for Klopp as he completed a circuit of the field, reports A.

Soon enough, he had disappeared out of view down into the tunnel, gone, but never forgotten.

“I’m one of you now — I love you to bits,” Klopp said among his last words as he addressed the spectators inside Anfield after his last game as Liverpool’s manager, which won 2-0 against Wolverhampton Sunday.

The match on the last day of the Premier League season also doubled as a tribute to a German coach who got Liverpool to win seven major trophies in his nearly nine years at Anfield and forged such a connection with the city that won him a comparison to Bill Shankly, the club’s legendary manager from 1959-74.

It was no wonder Klopp looked so emotional throughout the afternoon that Liverpool fans never wanted to come.

They lined up at the streets outside Anfield Stadium to welcome Klopp and his players, and then produced a paper mosaic of the word “JURGEN” in the stand, opposite the dugouts, as he came out for the game.
