Former YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki’s son was found dead at the University of California, Berkeley, on Tuesday, reports NBC News.
Marco Troper, 19, was found unresponsive at about 4:23 pm (local time) on Tuesday at the university’s Clark Kerr Campus, said UC Berkeley spokesperson Janet Gilmore.
Troper, a Berkeley freshman, was later pronounced dead by emergency responders from the Berkeley Fire Department, the university said.
He lived at the Clark Kerr Campus, a student housing complex, UC Berkeley spokesperson Janet Gilmore said.
The spokesperson said there were no signs of foul play and that an investigation into the death was underway.
On Wednesday, Esther Wojcicki, the victim’s grandmother, also confirmed his death and identity.
She said tragedy hit her family as her beloved grandson Marco Troper passed away yesterday.
She wrote on Facebook on February 14 that their family is devastated beyond comprehension.
Esther Wojcicki on February 16 said that she believed her grandson Marco Troper had died from a suspected drug overdose.
The family is waiting on the results of a toxicology report, added the grandmother.
She said they want to prevent this from happening to any other family.
Gilmore said the Berkeley Fire Department notified the University of California Police Department that it was “attempting life-saving measures” on the student.
