Kate Middleton, a member of the British royal family, has revealed that she has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy.

The revelation about her cancer came, two months after she underwent “major” abdominal surgery in London in January.

Kate, Britain’s Princess of Wales, disclosed her cancer in a video message released Friday.

However, the princess did not disclose the type of cancer, reports ABS news.

Kate Middleton, 42, has already started a course of preventative chemotherapy in late February, according to Kensington Palace.

As Kate’s father-in-law, King Charles III, also undergoes cancer treatment, her announcement sparked an outpouring of support and comes.

“William and I have been doing everything to manage this privately for the sake of our young family as it is a huge sorrow,” Kate said in the video.

However, the video was filmed at Windsor on Wednesday.

Kate said the cancer was revealed in post-operative tests after her planned abdominal surgery in mid-January.

Kate mentioned the process as a “major abdominal surgery”, saying that it was primarily thought that her condition was non-cancerous.

Kate said the surgery was successful, but after the operation found cancer had been present.

She said therefore her medical team prescribed that she should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy as she is now in the early stages of treatment.
