Riley Strain, a student of the University of Missouri was found dead in the Cumberland River on Friday, two weeks after he allegedly went missing.
Strain, 22, left a downtown Nashville bar on March 8 and did not return home, but the authorities pulled the body from the Cumberland River on Friday morning, reports CNN.
When the student was kicked out of Luke’s 32 Bridge, country singer Luke Bryan’s bar, on March 8, he was on a weekend trip to the Tennessee city, authorities said.
Since then, Strain’s friends and family had been unable to trace him, but police searches had been unsuccessful.
According to Metro Nashville Police Department Chief John Drake, Strain’s body was found in the river about 8 miles from downtown after getting kicked out of Luke’s 32 Bridge in Downtown Nashville.
Acording to a police department social media post, Strain was last seen on Gay Street after drinking downtown 9:52pm on March 8.
However, authorities do not suspect foul play in his disappearance or his death.
Metro Nashville Police Department Police Chief John Drake said a worker in the area spotted Strain’s body about 7:30 am on Friday (local time).
In a statement, University of Missouri President Mun Choi also informed students and staff that the body of Strain had been found.
Meanwhile, the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) has started an investigation into whether Strain took alcohol on the night of his disappearance.
According to Luke’s 32Bridge, when Strain was at the bar, he was served just one alcoholic beverage and two glasses of water.
To determine where else he was served alcohol that night, the TABC has worked with local law enforcement.
The final report will be made public after the investigation has been done, a TABC spokesman said.
