Ryan Garcia, the boxing superstar, who scored an upset win over Devin Haney on April 20 only to have the victory tainted by positive tests for banned substances has had another major event impact his professional situation.
Dan Rafael, longtime boxing insider, on May 8 reported that Garcia had been cleared of a potential positive drug test for the 19-Norandrosterone metabolite, which comes from a better-known banned substance called Nandrolone.
Garcia took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to proclaim his innocence after the news broke, but more is still to come, reports forbes.
“So yall realize I didn’t fail the tests now. Level so low wouldn’t have any effect. THEY TRIED BUT NO LIE STANDS. PRAISE GOD,” he posted on X.
Darin Chavez, Garcia’s attorney, meanwhile suggested that the levels of Ostarine in his client’s system was proof that they were dealing only with a known supplement contaminant in the billionth of a gram range that did not provide Ryan Garcia with any performance-enhancing benefit whatsoever during the fight night, according to an ESPN report.
The “billionth of a gram” measurement is yet to be confirmed. Garcia has however requested the testing of his B-sample, but the results of that will not be back until May 22.
It is to be noted that any amount of Ostarine in a fighter’s system would be grounds for a positive test for a banned substance.
Meanwhile, in another episode of Garcia’s alleged doping, the Mexican-American boxer continues with his habit of posting without a filter on social media.
In the middle of his defense to prove innocence, he launched a challenge which would be impossible to fulfill, as it would require someone to cheat in a boxing fight.
Garcia posted X that he would let the next man I fight, fight me with steroids.
He will eat only oranges for a month straight and destroy him.
