Timeline of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s dramatic relationship

Prince William and Kate Middleton are kind of a match made in heaven, much like an old rich man and a dusty bottle of port.

According to Cosmopolitan, the royal couple is destined to be King and Queen of England, and, their relationship currently is polished extremely.

Although what goes on behind the doors of Adelaide Cottage is kept behind closed doors, however, Kate and William’s love story has always been presented to the public as nothing short of a fairy tale.

But, just like any other couple who met in college, William and Kate’s relationship hasn’t always been this rock solid.

Here’s a timeline of their romantic ups and downs leading up to their marriage.

Circa 2001

William and Kate meet each other at the University of Saint Andrews. And, they were seen at their graduation taking a photo together.

Circa 2003

William and Kate kicked off their dating life with one another after he was apparently mind-blown watching her walk the ramp in a charity auction.

January 2004

William and Kate go on a ski holiday together, which creates rumours in the media that they are seeing each other.

March 18, 2006

Kate was spotted kissing William at his polo match, and they seem relatively unbothered by the cameras, which by then has solidified the fact that they are indeed together.

Christmas 2006

William allegedly cancels his Christmas plans with Kate’s family, making her second-guess their relationship.

According to Vanity Fair royal reporter Katie Nicholl, William had a change of heart at the last minute and decided to stay with his own family instead and informed it a “tearful” Kate on Boxing Day.

Spring 2007

William and Kate have call quits which hits the news. William later explained during his engagement interview with Kate that they were both young and were of “different characters”.

It seemed like William took the initiative to split and the internet back in 2007 had some insane theories about why, including:

–         Kate apparently used the word “toilet” by accident in front of the queen, which came to be known as “Toiletgate”.

–         William moves to Dorset army camp, causing their relationship to endure a long-distance strain.

Spring 2007

Kate goes through post-breakup, fleeing the country to visit Ireland and gets featured in a number of tabloid gossip.

June 2007

Kate apparently starts dating shipping heir Henry Ropner, William’s best friend.

July 1, 2007

Kate attends a tribute concert for Princess Diana, and sits a couple of rows behind William and Harry. Rumors of a reunion start to begin.

March 19, 2008

Kate and William are officially back together. And as before when went public, they are once again spotted on a skiing trip.

April 2008

Kate then accompanies William to an RAF graduation ceremony.

October 2010

William and Kate get engaged in Kenya.

April 29, 2011

They officially tied the knot.
