Widely regarded as one of the greatest female mixed martial artists of all time, Cris Cyborg tested positive for stanozolol, an anabolic steroid in 2012.

Cristiane Justino Venâncio, born on July 9, 1985, is better known professionally by her moniker Cris Cyborg and previously by her married name — Cristiane Santos.

Cyborg is a Brazilian-American mixed martial artist a professional boxer and the current Bellator Women’s Featherweight Champion, after having held the title for four straight years since January 2020.

On Saturday, she became the inaugural PFL Women’s Featherweight Superfight Champion, after winning the title against Larissa Pacheco.

Cyborg had announced that she would return to the promotion to face Hiroko Yamanaka on September 23, 2011.

The fight was held at Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Masvidal on December 17, 2011.

Cyborg won through technical knockout (TKO) 16 seconds into the game.

However, on January 6, 2012, it was announced that Cyborg tested positive for stanozolol, a banned substance. Hence, the fight’s result was changed to a no contest, leading to Cyborg’s license being suspended for one year and fined $2,500.
