Jayden Daniels’ father, Javon “Jay” Daniels, was a college football cornerback in the late 90s for the Iowa State Cyclones and the Washington Huskies.

Jayden Daniels is a professional football quarterback for the Washington Commanders of the NFL.

He played college football for the Arizona State Sun Devils for three seasons and the LSU Tigers for two seasons.

Jayden won the 2023 Heisman Trophy while playing for the Tigers after leading the FBS in total yards and setting its single-season passer rating record.

He was selected by the Washington Commanders second overall in the 2024 NFL draft, setting many completion percentage records within his first month.

Jayden Daniels was born on December 18, 2000, to Jay and Regina Jackson in Fontana, California, and raised in San Bernardino.

In 2024, Regina Jackson became an NFLPA-certified agent.

His father Javon played football while growing up at Cajon High School, following which he was a cornerback at the University of Washington.

However, he eventually joined the defensive roster at Iowa State in 1998.

In an interview in 2019, Jayden told ASUDevils that his dad played corner and wanted him to play corner as well due to his height. However, Jayden said it was his own decision to carve his path as a quarterback.

Meanwhile, Javon told Marty Smith ahead of Jayden’s crowning as Heisman winner that when he was old enough to walk, he handed Jayden a ball and told him that this was what he was going to do, and Jayden just ran with the ball.

Jayden shared a similar anecdote during a press conference at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine.

Talking to reporters he said his dad played Division 1 and had coached him since he was a kid.

Teriming his dad an inspiration he said football has always been on his hands.

At every game, Javon and Regina have been spotted by fans cheering for their son from the stands.

The quarterback, while accepting the 2023 Heisman Trophy, gave a big shout-out to his dad.
