Oscars 2024: Billie Eilish wins best song ‘What Was I Made For?’

American singer and songwriter Billie Eilish on Sunday night became the youngest two-time Oscar winner at the age of 22 at the Academy Awards for best original song with “What Was I Made For?”

Billie Eilish along with her brother Finneas O’Connell won the award and made Oscar history by becoming the two youngest two-time winners for the best original song for the power ballad from the blockbuster Barbie, reports Time.com.

The pop-star siblings picked up the best song trophy for the song “What Was I Made For?,” their contribution to the “Barbie” soundtrack.

The brother-sister team also previously achieved the winning title for “No Time to Die,”, which is the title song for the 2022 James Bond film.

Moreover, O’Connell is believed to be the second youngest dual winner at the age of 26 while Eilish has now become the youngest two-time winner in Oscar history at the age of 22.

One of the two nominated “Barbie” songs was “What Was I Made For?”

Billie Eilish and O’Connell have already won the Golden Globe and two Grammys along with Society of Composers & Lyricists honours for “What Was I Made For?”

Dedicating the award to “everyone affected by the movie, Eilish said she feels so incredibly lucky and honoured.

The pop-star singer also thanked her best friend, Zoe, “for playing Barbies with her” as well as two music teachers.

“What Was I Made For?” also dominated the 2024 Grammys, winning Song Of The Year, Record of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, and Best Music Video.

Meanwhile, a group of Hollywood stars including Billie Eilish, and Ramy Youssef, used the red carpet as a moment to show support for a ceasefire between Israel and Palestine amid the pomp and circumstance of Oscars 2024.
