What was Dolly Parton’s big announcement?

Dolly Parton on Thursday shared that her life story will finally be coming to the big stage, as her life and career will be the focus of a new Broadway musical.

Dolly shared a picture of the title card for the musical, titled, “Hello, I’m Dolly — An Original Musical”,  to Instagram with her signature diamond and rhinestone glitz.

She captioned the photo with — “Hello, I’m Dolly!

Dolly later in the day shared a press statement alongside the news, which read: “I’ve written many original songs for the show and included all your favourites in it as well.”

So far, not much else has been shared about the new musical, except for the fact that Dolly was in charge of all the music and lyrics. The musical would be based on a book written by Dolly herself and Maria S. Schlatter, a producer who won an Emmy award for Parton’s Christmas on the Square.

When a TV movie based on her hit song “Coat of Many Colors” aired on NBC in 2016, the “I Will Always Love You” singer (not Whitney Houston) spoke about putting up the story and her extensive catalog on Broadway in the future.

On Thursday, Dolly decided that just one announcement was not enough as the country music icon and philanthropist announced the launching of her brand of wines — “Dolly Wines.”
