Adan Canto, actor on ‘the cleaning lady’ and ‘designated survivor’, dies at 42

Actor Adan Canto, best known for his work on “The Cleaning Lady”, “Narcos”, and “Designated Survivor”, has died at the age of 42.

The actor, also known for his roles in “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and “Agent Game”, breathed his last on Tuesday after a private battle with appendiceal cancer, report AP and The Hollywood Reporter.

“He [Canto] died of appendiceal cancer and had opted to keep his diagnosis private,” Publicist Jennifer Allen, told The Associated Press.
Canto left behind his wife Stephanie Ann Canto and two children– Roman Alder, 3, and Eve Josephine, 18 months—to mourn his death.

Allen wrote in a statement also said Adan, who had a depth of spirit that few truly knew, will be greatly missed by so many.
Canto played Arman Morales for two seasons on The Cleaning Lady and the Fox series is currently filming its next [third] season.

Canto was not involved in the upcoming season due to his health, The Hollywood Reporter understands.
The actor was born in Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico but raised in Texas, US.

When Canto began his career, he was 16 and left home for Mexico City to work as a singer-songwriter.
He then started acting, appearing on TV for the first time in 2009 in the Mexican series “Estado de Gracia.”

His American debut came later on Fox drama series “The Following,” in 2013.
Vice President-elect Aaron Shore on “Designated Survivor,” Colombian politician Rodrigo Lara Bonilla on “Narcos,” and the mutant Sunspot in “X-Men: Days of Future Past” were his notable roles.

He also became famous as a director in his first short film in 2014 and a second one, a provocative western starring Theo Rossi, in 2020.
Actor Kiefer Sutherland shared a tribute on his Instagram page. However, Kiefer starred alongside Canto on “Designated Survivor”.
