A Japan Airlines flight burst into flames after it landed on a runway at Tokyo’s Haneda airport on Tuesday evening after a possible collision with a Coast Guard aircraft, report BBC.

All 367 passengers and crew on board were evacuated safely, media reports quoted the airline as saying.

Footage showed flames coming out of the windows of the aircraft and beneath it, while the runway was also set alight. National broadcaster NHK released the footage.

The incident happened as the plane collided with a coast guard plane. The plane had taken off from Sapporo, NHK said, citing authorities.

Officials were unavailable for comment immediately.

The Japan Airlines Flight 516, which departed from New Chitose airport at 16:00 local time (07:00 GMT), was scheduled to land at Haneda at 17:40.

Multiple fire trucks are at the scene as smoke and flames billow from the plane, the TV footage shows.

The airline said, according to an NHK report, that they are currently assessing the extent of the damage.

The Coast Guard said it was looking into the possibility that one of their planes collided with the passenger plane.

Five of the six Coast Guard aircraft crews are unaccounted for, while one fled, NHK reported.
