Six flags over Georgia: 15-year-old shot by police after gunfire exchange

A police officer shot a 15-year-old boy, who initiated a gunfight with officers during a massive fight outside Six Flags Over Georgia.
The exchange of gunfire happened on Saturday as Cobb County Police Department officers responded to Six Flags Over Georgia after several fights broke out between patrons leaving the park, said the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI).
The Cobb County Police Department said in a statement that nearly 500 to 600 people were “running through the park and fighting” on Saturday. Police were called to the park to assist with an “unruly” crowd before the shooting.
When “an unknown number of suspects” fired at officers, Cobb County officers reportedly followed the crowd onto Six Flags Parkway around 6:15 pm, said the authorities.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) reported that multiple people started shooting, hitting a police patrol car.
When the police officers returned fire, the teenager was hit and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.
Cobb County Police notified the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). However, GBI has taken over the investigation into the shooting.
According to the GBI’s preliminary investigation, CCPD officers were responding to assist with crowd control near the park’s entrance “after several fights had taken place amongst patrons.
According to the GBI, police officials recovered a handgun near the teenager.
