Tow truck driver arrested for violating towing ordinance

A tow truck driver operating in the Upstate region of South Carolina has been arrested on charges related to the violation of Spartanburg County’s towing ordinance, reports 7news WSPA.com.
Christopher Michael Cole, 47, was arrested on two counts of violation of county ordinance, according to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver illegally towed 11 trucks and trailers from a Spinx gas station on Highway 14 near Greer South Carolina between December 6-8, 2023, deputies said.
Michael Cole used the names of two different towing companies –Southern Pride Towing and Affiliation Towing, and storage lots in Wellford and Duncan, investigators said.
Authorities inspire the persons, who may have fallen victim to improper towing practices by Cole, to file reports with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said their investigator obtained the two warrants for Cole after consulting the county attorney’s office.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have been a recent victim of improper towing by Michael Cole to file a report with them.
The arrest of Cole emphasizes the importance of adherence to established towing regulations and the diligent enforcement efforts of law enforcement agencies to uphold public safety and regulatory compliance within the community.
