What is Teacher Appreciation Week? Check out deals, discounts, free meals

The National Teacher Day (May 7, 2024) and Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6-10) are celebrated each year to honor the hard work and dedication of teachers and educators. The idea was launched by first lady Eleanor Roosevelt more than 70 years ago.

Since 1985, the National Education Association (NEA) has been celebrating the National Teacher Day on the Tuesday of the first full week of May, report NECN and USA Today.

The Week aims to recognize the role teachers play in shaping the lives of students, parents, families, and communities as a whole.

The National National Parent Teacher Association has set this year’s theme as “Teachers are Shining Stars”.

Many restaurants are showing their gratitude for teachers this week with deals, discounts, specials, and free stuff. Here are some that may interest you, but you may want to check social media for local deals.

National Teacher Appreciation Week deals

Applebee’s

Teachers (with valid ID) can dine-in at Applebee’s during the Week and score a free dessert with any purchase. There would also be a voucher for a BOGO free entree for a future order.

Buffalo Wild Wings

A 20% discount is being offered at Buffalo Wild Wings for teachers from May 6-12. Anyone with a valid teacher ID can dine-in, call-in, and walk-in.

BurgerFi

Teachers are eligible for a 20% discount on all orders, with a valid ID at some BurgerFi restaurants (those branches participating) from May 6-12 in their locality.

Dunkin’ Donuts

During the Teacher Appreciation Week, teachers are eligible for a caffeine fix once a day, every day. Meanwhile, Refreshers are only $3, but only through Dunkin’ Rewards.

Golden Corral

Golden Corral is offering teachers 20% off buffet for an adult from May 6-10 in acknowledgment of their service to the community.

Insomnia Cookies

Insomnia Cookies is offering teachers a free classic cookie from May 6-12.

TGI Friday’s

On Teacher Appreciation Day (May 7), TGI Friday’s is serving free meals to teachers all day.

Whataburger

From 5am-9am teachers can score a free taquito, Breakfast on a Bun, or Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit.
