Green Bay based US football team The Green Bay Packers, have nominated Texas football wide receiver Matthew Golden for the first round of the NFL Draft in 2025.
Matthew Golden, the 50th first-round NFL Draft pick in Texas history, is the first wide receiver the Packers have drafted in the first round since 2002.
Texans now have two first-round wide receivers–Golden and Xavier Worthy– from the previous year.
Golden is picked by Texas in the third round, matching its highest selection in school history, part of a streak that started in 1980.
Golden, who was born on August 1, 2003, in Wisconsin, has played for the Texas Longhorns and Houston Cougars.
Matthew, who joined Klein Cain High School, took in 167 receptions for 3,242 yards and 32 touchdowns. The player has also dashed for 112 yards and four touchdowns.
He was a four-star prospect who initially committed to playing college football at Texas Christian University before Golden switched to the University of Houston.
Goldman, who threw eight passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns in a win over East Carolina, scored seven touchdowns and caught 38 receptions for 584 yards.
