Michael Leroy Bickle, an American evangelical leader best known for his leadership of the International House of Prayer Kansas City (IHOPKC), has admitted to “inappropriate behaviour” 20 years ago and apologized for the past misconduct.
The misconduct caused “pain, confusion, and division in the body of Christ,” reports The Christian Post.
In a statement published on his Facebook page Tuesday, Bickle, a charismatic minister, said he sadly confesses that 20+ years ago, he sinned by engaging in inappropriate behaviour — his moral failures were real.
IHOPK Founder Mike Bickle, in late October, was accused of clergy sexual misconduct. IHOPK leaders made allegations from several women about misconduct that allegedly went on for decades.
The confession came after a woman identified by The Roys Report alleged that from 1996 to 1999, Bickle paid for her apartment, gave her a key to his office, and engaged in every sexual act.
The allegation was revealed in a joint statement by IHOPKC founding member Dwayne Roberts, its former Executive Leadership Team member Brian Kim, and former Forerunner Church Pastor Wes Martin.
The leaders alleged that they attempted to discuss the allegations directly with Bickle before meeting with IHOPKC’s leadership team but were rebuffed.
Bickle also attempted to intimidate, isolate, manipulate, and discredit his alleged victims, alleged IHOPKC leaders.
Bickle however acknowledged moral failings more than 20 years ago but said most of the accusations against him are untrue.
