Jailer

Action-comedy “Jailer,” directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and written by K.S. Ravikumar features superstar Rajinikanth, Ramya Krishnan, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha Krishnan, Tamannaah, Yogi Babu, Shiva Rajkumar, Mirnaa, and many others.

Produced under the banner of Sun Pictures, “Jailer” chronicles the plot of a criminal organization attempting to free its leaders from jail, only to have the warden sabotage their plans by putting on a play for the other inmates.

The film was announced in February 2022 under the working title Thalaivar 169, however, the title was made “Jailer” officially in June, 2022, before its shooting began in Chennai on August 22, that year.

“Jailer” will be released theatrically on April 14, 2023.

Adhipurush

Om Raut’s mythological action drama “Adipurush”, based on the much-loved story of Ramayana, gave way to negative criticism when its trailer was released. However, with the film offering a star-studded cast, including superstars like Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan, “Adhipurush” is still one of the most awaited releases of this year.

“Adipurush” is now in post-production and is scheduled to be released on June 16, 2023. The film’s total budget is projected to be around Rs. 550 crores.

PS-2

Following the immense success garnered by Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus “Ponniyin Selvan I”, known to the audience as “PS-1”, the film-lovers went crazy when the makers announced to release its sequel this year.

This political period drama, directed by Mani Ratnam himself, offers a stellar star-cast bringing in some of the most prominent faces of the Indian film industry like Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Trisha.

“PS-2”, made on an estimated budget of Rs 250 crore, is currently in post-production. The film, which also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Aditi Balan, and Aishwarya Lekshmi is set to premiere this year on April 28.

Salaar

After taking the audience by storm with the second edition of his well-received “KGF” franchise, Prashanth Neel is ready to redefine the “Bahubali” famed National Award-winning actor Prabhas in his upcoming neo-noir crime thriller “Salaar”.

With the promise of an experience packed with action, “Salaar” is scheduled to release theatrically on September 28.

Project K

“Project K”, a Nag Ashwin directorial production, starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan, is slated to be released on January 12, next year.

Aswani Dutt, the producer of the film, in a recent interview defined the production as a narrative of a modern-day ‘Vishnu avatar’ who has descended on the Earth to protect the world from evil forces. The film is currently in post-production.

Pushpa: The Rule (Pushpa 2)

With “Srivalli” still echoing loud on the reels on social media, director Sukumar has already announced the release of the second installment of the “Pushpa” franchise, “Pushpa: The Rule”, Being one of Allu Arjun’s most appreciated performance, “Pushpa 2” is rumoured to feature the rule of Pushpa over the ‘red sandalwood’ trade of the Seshachalam Hills. The film is now under pre-production, with a projected release date of 2024.

Leo

Keeping up with his own pace after “Beast”, Thalapathy Vijay got a rather good start with “Varisu” this year. However, he is ready to re-embrace his beasty avatar with the action-thriller “Leo”.

Directed by  Lokesh Kanagaraj, “Leo”, is all set to shock the fans with an immense stardom, after roping in Sanjau Dutt, Trisha Krishnan, and Arjun Sarja. The film has already begun its pre-production preparations and is scheduled to hit theatres on October 19.

Agent

Spy-thiller films seems to be the trend of the year with the Shah Rukh Khan starrer “Pathaan” stunning the fans worldwide. Now, fans eagerly waiting for another dip into the world of spy-films with Surender Reddy’s “Agent”.

Set to premiere theatrically on April 28, the film casts Indian star Nagajuna’s younger son Akhil Akkineni and noted actress Sakshi Vaidya in the lead. Akhil essays the role of a spy with a mysterious past, confronting a secretive terrorist organization.
