Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, quit school at the age of 14 to practice football full-time.
Cristiano was expelled from school for throwing a chair at a teacher, as he had a problem controlling his temper since childhood.
As Cristiano Ronaldo did not want to pursue activities in academics, he expected he would become a village fisherman. However, he quit school at age 14 to practice full-time because Cristiano was passionate about football.
Cristiano played for CF Andorinha when his father, who served in the Portuguese Army and fought two wars in Angola and Mozambique, found work as a kit man at the local football club.
His first team was Sporting CP’s youth academy in August 2002. Later, he joined Clube Desportivo Nacional of Madeira and then Sporting Clube de Portugal. Cristiano underwent a heart operation at the age of 15, but he did not stop.
His godfather, Fernao Sousa, earlier told British reporters that when Cristiano was supposed to be doing his homework, he would miss meals or escape out of his bedroom window with a ball, as he loved the game so much.
When he was 18 years old, he signed with Manchester United. He was 23 years old, and he achieved the first Balloon d’Or. When he signed for Real Madrid in 2009, he was involved in the most expensive association football transfer.
After his time with Real Madrid and a successful period with the Italian giant, Cristiano eventually ended up back at Man United.
