What do we know about earthquakes in San Francisco Bay?

Northern California has witnessed a magnitude 3.9 earthquake, according to the US Geological Survey.

The moderate shaking was centered about 2.9 miles west of Dublinnear Dublin and near Concord at 7:46 pm on Monday, as well as one mile from Pleasanton, San Ramon and Castro Valley and two miles from Hayward.

Besides, another 2.9 magnitude quake struck around 9:46 pm in the same area.

The tremor can result in very light damage as people in San Francisco, Fremont and Richmond reported weak shaking.

After the earthquake, Residents in Dublin and nearby cities shared their experiences quickly on social media.

According to reports, several moderate earthquakes occurred in  California in 2025.

There has been one earthquake of magnitude 3.0 in the last 10 days.

A magnitude 4.3 earthquake hit Avenal in February while a magnitude 3.9 earthquake struck Burbank in early March.

Besides, a magnitude 3.9 earthquake in Dublin follows this trend of noticeable but non-destructive quakes.

According to a recent three-year data sample, California and Nevada faced an average of 25 earthquakes with magnitudes of 4.0 to 5.0 occur each year.

The shaking happened at a depth of 7.3 miles.
