How to Use the Event Countdown Timer Tool
A fast, accurate timer for launches, meetings and big moments. Runs in your browser, no install required.
Set up your event timer (step-by-step)
1. Event name — add a title (e.g., Product Launch, Team Stand-up, or your custom title).
2. Date & time — choose the calendar day and time for the event.
3. Time zone
Keep America/New_York (default) or pick another zone from the dropdown list, or
Click Use My TZ to auto-detect your current time zone (works worldwide; uses IP first, then your device if IP lookup fails).
4. Notification sound
Choose a preset, paste a custom URL, or upload your own audio (upload stays on your device).
⚠️ Uploads can’t be shared; shared links use presets or a custom URL sound instead.
Click Test to preview and adjust the Volume, and click the Stop button to cancel.
5. Start — click ▶ Start Countdown.
6. Cancel / reset — click Cancel Countdown to stop the timer and return to editing.
7. Share — click Copy Shareable Link to generate a shareable URL that keeps your date, time, time zone and sound choice.
When someone opens the link (especially in Private/Incognito), the page may show “Enable Sound” once.
This one-click prompt appears only in new or Private windows to unlock audio playback safely.
Note about sound & sharing
Shared links cannot include uploaded files (those live on your device). If you shared with Upload/No Sound, the page safely falls back to our Playful alert so the alarm can still play.
In new tabs or Private windows, browsers block audio until the user interacts. That’s why we show Enable Sound — one click and you’re set.

“Enable Sound” prompt — appears once in Private or new windows to safely activate alerts.

Frequently Asked Questions
QWhat does “Use My TZ” do?
It detects your local time zone. We try an IP-based lookup first (e.g., Asia/Dhaka, America/New_York, Europe/London). If that’s slow or blocked, we fall back to your device’s zone instantly.
QWhy is America/New_York the default time zone?
It’s a practical, industry-standard default. You can change it anytime from the dropdown or click Use My TZ to set your current zone automatically.
QWill the alarm sound if the tab is in the background?
Usually yes, once you’ve interacted with the page (autoplay policy). On some mobiles and low-power modes, background audio can be limited; keeping the tab visible is always most reliable.
QCan I use my own alert sound?
Yes. Choose a preset, paste a direct audio URL, or upload a local file. Use Test to preview and adjust volume. (Uploads never leave your device.)
QHow do I share my event timer?
Click Copy Shareable Link. The link includes event name, date, time, time zone and sound mode. When opened in a new/private tab, the page may ask to Enable Sound once so the alarm can play.
QI shared a link but the sound didn’t play—why?
Private/Incognito windows block audio until a user interacts. The page shows an Enable Sound button—tap it once to allow alerts. Also, uploaded files can’t be embedded in links, so we auto-fall back to a default alert sound if needed.
QHow accurate is the countdown?
Timing uses your browser’s system clock plus your chosen time zone (DST and offsets handled by the platform). If your device clock is off, the countdown will reflect that.
QCan I run multiple timers?
Yes—open each countdown in its own browser tab or window.
QDoes VPN affect my time zone?
The Use My TZ button uses your device if IP detection fails or is misleading (e.g., VPN). You can always select the exact zone from the list.
