After facing multiple delays, Square Enix, a Japanese multinational company and video game publisher, has officially decided to cancel the development of Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link, a GPS-based action RPG.
The game announced by the company in April 2022 was originally planned to release for IOS and Android in 2024, as its Prototype Test ran in January 2023. The release of the game was delayed to an unannounced date in November last year.
Amid the disappointing news for fans, the developer company reassured players to continue the Kingdom Hearts series and actively work on Kingdom Hearts IV.
In a statement, the team said they cancelled the Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link as they have been not able to offer a service.
The company conveyed heartfelt apologies to every player, looking forward to beginning the service.
They hope that the game will enjoy lots of players, considering it the team worked hard on developing and adjusting the game. But the team made the decision to cancel development as it understood that providing long-term service and finding a satisfactory solution for the players would be difficult.
However, the company has expressed their thanks to the players, who supported and made assistance with the multiple closed beta tests.
The series will continue for the fans and game lovers as the team is making their best efforts on Kingdom Hearts IV.
