Moana 2, a US animated musical adventure film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios, was never intended to create a love interest but the focus of director Dana Ledoux Miller is “her deep friendships” with the other characters.
It was the right choice not to introduce a love interest for Moana 2 as it would have complicated Moana’s determination to defeat Nalo and unite the islands.
Her transformation into a demigod after raising Motufetu proved that Moana didn’t need a love interest to grow as a character and serve her tribe on Montunui.
The directors initially suggested that Moana and Moni could form a relationship but later decided to keep the story focused on a mission. The new decision prevented Moana 2 from entering into another clichéd Disney romance.

The animated movie is the sequel to “Moana in 2016, officially hit Disney+ this week.

The film is officially available for streaming on Disney+ as of March 12 and is included with a Disney+ subscription.
