Jack Lilley, best known for his roles in “Little House on the Prairie,” has died at 91 in Calabasas, California, his son Clint Lilley told Fox News Digital on Friday.
Clint also said his father breathed his last in his sleep peacefully at the Motion Picture & Television Fund retirement home on Wednesday (March 19).
Little House on the Prairie star Melissa Gilbert also announced his death in a lengthy post on Instagram.
Lilley, who was an esteemed actor, stuntman and animal wrangler, appeared in Blazing Saddles.
Born in Santa Clarita on August 15, 1933, Lilley started his screen career in 1940.
His credits ranged from the long-running western series Gunsmoke to Young Guns in 1988 and Cowboys & Aliens in 2011.
As a horse wrangler, he also worked with George Spahn at the Spahn Movie Ranch. He encountered future cult leader Charles Manson.
Lilley went on to work with Western director John Ford on films, after getting his break as a stuntman. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance in 1962 is among the films.
In a 2015 interview, the Hollywood actor remembered a shooting scene in Blazing Saddles in 1974.
Jack Lilley, who worked on the popular 1970s television series, was featured in several movies.
The movies include “Little House” franchise, “Little House: Look Back to Yesterday” in 1983, “The Last Farewell” and “Bless All the Dear Children,”.
